PATH (Preparing Ambassadors to Teach about the Holocaust) is an in-depth Holocaust educational program for young Europeans in Austria, Poland and Germany. Through a wide-reaching range of activities, we consolidate participants’ knowledge, skills, and sense of commitment to act as ambassadors of Holocaust remembrance toward their respective networks.
Project Goals
- Increase knowledge about the Holocaust among young people
- Raise awareness about local sites where the Holocaust happened and the local dimension of mass atrocities.
- Consolidate participants’ knowledge base of key historical events within broader European and national historical context.
- Scale reach of Holocaust remembrance efforts
- Empower young people to be ambassadors of Holocaust remembrance in their communities.
- Mainstream the use of social media campaigns to promote remembrance.
- Present replicable Holocaust education formats.
- Develop active citizenship skills among young people, drawing on the lessons of the Holocaust
- Build young peoples’ resistance to Holocaust denial and distortion.
- Raise awareness about the causes of the Holocaust and about escalatory steps ahead of other mass atrocities to build societal resilience.
- Champion women’s experiences during the Holocaust, following decades-long under-representation
- Raise awareness about women’s role in resistance movements during the Holocaust.
- Raise awareness about the use of gender-based violence in mass atrocities.
Planned Activities
- Preparatory seminars to develop key historical knowledge about the Holocaust.
- Virtual thematic conferences with leading experts.
- In-depth study visits and short study visits to sites where the Holocaust happened.
- Online training on memorialization and meetings with survivors.
- Individual social media projects and a large-scale joint campaign.
By preserving the memory as a meaningful task for young Europeans, we bring innovation to the field of remembrance and consolidate EU values.
